A rainy Saturday befell the participants in the years 3rd tournament on
the Upper Chesapeake Bay. Wet conditions and a high tide made for a
tough day for some, while others were able to find some key bites and
good fish. The top three in this tournament were separated by mere
hundredths of an ounce. In what was the closest Chester County
Bassmasters finish in recent memory.
------------------
Top spot went to new member
and club rookie Rob Galusha who brought a beautiful limit of 14.85 lbs
to the scales for the win. Congrats Rob on your first win and setting the
bar for the other new members.
-------------------
Second place honors and just two
hundredths of an ounce back was Rick Orlando with another good limit
for 14.83lbs.
--------------------
Third place points went to Jim “Woo” Hauck who was also
just nosed out with a nice limit of 14.81lbs.
-----------------------
Fourth place went to club
tournament director Steve Weimar with a solid limit of 14.33 lbs.
-------------------------
Rounding out the top 5 was three-time reigning AOY Paul Sirochman
with a bag of 12.52lbs. Congrats to all the guys on great finishes.
--------------------
Another new member and rookie Cliff Ruck caught one fish this day,
but if you're only going to catch one keeper make it count. Cliff did just
that with a 4.71lb bay beauty to take home the lunker prize. Congrats
all the guys for a great tournament.
There were 20 Boats participating with a total of 25 club members and
one guest. There was a total of 55 bass with a total weight of 148.4 lbs
of Upper Bay bass were caught released back into the bay for future
generations.

Tournament 4 Northeast Tournament
Tournament stop number 4 was a tough and expensive day on the water. Twenty-six
anglers participated. Still needing a 15 inch size limit, only two limits were bought to the
scales but plenty of mishaps. Both Sam and Joe broke rods, Steve broke his power pole
and then to add insult to injury Paul noticed Sam’s trailer tire was flat. Well with all that
covered let’s get to the tournament.
-----------------
First place was taken by Travis Nale. Travis has been the model of consistency since
joining the club. With a second place finish in AOY last year, but first place had eluded
him. Well no more. Travis brings a 5 fish limit for 15.42 lbs. with a 3.70 big fish to take
first place honors.
----------------
Second place and the only other limit of the day went the Big Sexy Greg Arrowood.
Greg bought 14.09lbs to the scales with a big fish of 2.99lbs. Let’s just say a 3 pounder!
Great job on a tough day.
-----------------
Third place was taken by Steve Weimar. Steve had 4 fish for 12.08lbs. One of the four
was tournament lunker of 3.74lbs just nosing out Travis for that honor.
-----------------
Fourth Place went to Aaron Turner who landed 3 fish for 8.1lbs. from the back of the
boat. His big fish of 3.69lbs was also the tie breaker for fourth place.
------------------
Rounding out the top 5 was JC Henry for also 8.1lbs. Losing on the tie breaker. JC
weighed in a beautiful Susquehanna River smallmouth for 3.26lbs.
58 total fish caught for a total weight of 156.88lbs

Tournament stop number 5 on the old Nanticoke river. Beautiful day on the water with
the water temps above the 80 degree mark. 20 club members fished this one with a
total of 47 fish caught.
-----------------
First place went to Paul Sirochman. No stranger to success on the Nanicoke, Paul
brought a 5-fish limit of 11.23 lbs and the tournament lunker of 3.66lbs. Paul saw some
fish breaking and went to a buzz bait which produced a very early limit. He added the
lunker later. Great job adapting to the conditions Paul!
--------------------
Second place went to Sean Gerlof. Sean has been missing from the top of the
leaderboard but showing he still has enough of Sam’s spots memorized to be a factor.
Sean was also on a buzz bait bite in the pads. Paul credits seeing Sean land a fish in
the pads which inspired him to also try the pads resulting in his 3.66lb big fish.
------------------
Third place was taken by Steve Weimar. Steve had 5 fish for 8.8lbs. Steve was up in
usual haunts in Broad Creek. Having a very consistent year. Steve is currently at the top
of the AOY leaderboard.
--------------------
Fourth Place went to Pavlo Fenik who landed 5 fish for 8.53lbs. Another person having
a very consistent year.
-----------------------
Rounding out the top 5 was Rob Galusha who now understands the term 'Nanticoke
special', bringing 5 fish to the scales for 6.51lbs.
Congrats to these guys on a great day.

Tournament stop number 6 to a place we have not been to in about 8 or 9 years: the
Gunpowder. A new ramp that was a little nuts getting boats out of. I cannot speak for
the launch as I was not present at the launch. Still a nice warm day with 18 club
members fishing bringing 39 fish to the scales.
-----------------
First place was taken by Travis Nale. Travis records his second win of the year and
climbs within 10 points of Steve W in the AOY race. Travis landed an impressive bag of
14.62 lbs which also included the tournament lunker, a 4.36lb beauty. The weight breaks
the record for this body of water previously held by Sean Gerloff. Awesome job Travis!!
---------------
Second place went to Pavlo Fenik who had the only other tournament limit. Pavlo
notches another top finish and in my opinion it is only a matter of time until he breaks
through and wins his first tournament. Pavlo brought in 13.5 lbs with a 3.46 big fish.
Excellent job!!
-----------------
Third place was taken by Jacob Maenner who, from the back of the boat, brought 4 fish
to the scales for 5.92 lbs. Congrats on your first top 3.
-----------------
Fourth Place went to Sean Clark who had 3 fish for 5.84lbs. Sean also doing it from the
back of the boat. Nice job.
-------------------
Rounding out the top 5 was Jim “Woo” Hauck with 3 fish for 5.79 lbs. Way to grind it out!
Congrats to these guys on a great day.

Tournament 7 Nanticoke River
A beautiful day on the old Nanticoke, like Goldilocks and the three bears: not too hot and
not too cold. Weather wise it was just right. An incoming tide made the early bite a little tough for some, with the bite getting better later in the day. 24 members and one guest participated, with 6 limits caught. 64 fish total were brought to the scales for 96.04 lbs and a whopping 1.5lb average.
------------------
First place went to Jason Bailey who had a 5-fish limit for 10.29 lbs. Jason blew the field away with the only double-digit bag of the tournament. This is Jason’s first win!! Congrats on the win, Jason!
------------------
2nd place went to old reliable Stan Horne who, despite having Louie as a rider, brought a
limit of 8.19lbs to the scales. Lou said Stan Kosared him all day lol.
------------------
3rd place went to local legend Adam Harkness. Adam, always a factor on the Nanticoke, had
a limit for 7.79lbs.
------------------
4 th place went to Paul Sirochman who also had a Nanticoke special limit of 7.30 lbs
------------------
5 th place went to Steve Weimar who brought a limit of 7.08 lbs in.
------------------
Lunker went to Travis Nale with a beautiful fish of 3.16 lbs. A true Nanticoke giant!! Congrats to the guys in the top 5, especially Jason on his first win!!
